TTF

We got some great news last night. Throw The Fight, the latest band to join the Cordless Recordings family (and by far, the HARDEST!!), will be on a bill with LOSTPROPHETS on November 5th in St. Paul, MN. I'm pretty psyched for the guys because they all dig LP and site them as band that has influenced them. It'll be cool for them to share the same stage.

TFF are gonna come out swingin'!!

Skye

Skye came to New York last week. It's my second time seeing her and she is always so much fun. A couple of us went to the free show at the Living Room and we had a chance to hang out with her for a bit. It's so nice to know artists that are humble and don't consider themselves "superstars." So far, I've been lucky; everyone I've met working at Cordless has been great. Here's the proof!

"Picture A Day Video"

"Picture A Day Video" Spoof
Check out this cool video. It's a take-off on the recent string of "picture a day videos" where people take a picture of themselves everyday for like 5 years and morph them all into a video.

Throw The Fight

Throw The Fight's show in Minneapolis last Friday was everything I hoped it would be! The band - Ryan, Corey, Aaron and Joey - are excellent musicians, and Paul, the vocalist, is a soaring, dynamic singer. The tightness of their set and the energy they gave off was riveting. Cordless Recordings is proud to have signed them.-Ruby

traveling

I’ve been doing quite a bit of traveling for work lately and when I fly I always prefer to sit next to the window. I know a lot of people prefer the aisle seats because you get a bit more leg room. But not me, the window is the way to go. Watching the always changing skyscapes and landscapes fascinates me; from the cloud formations to the mountain ranges to the layouts of major cities and the small towns below.

And when I’m 35,000 feet above the earth there are a few albums I always seem to listen to, ones that more or less provide a soundtrack to the trip. My recent top three listens are Moby’s Play, Air’s Moon Safari, and Skye’s Mind How You Go. Yeah, I know… Air… Skye… but there are no puns intended here. Each of these albums has it’s moments when you’re looking out that tiny window, the song just seems to click with the view outside.

Before you take your next trip, make sure you have these albums in your mp3 player and get ready for a ride. And grab that window seat before I do!

The Residents - Wall Street Journal - MOMA/River of Crime/YouTube

Hey Everyone,

Great news! Check out this great story on Wall Street Journal Online about our YouTube community art project we ran with The Residents and MOMA:

READ HERE!

Just a refresher, over 100 videos were submitted by users to be included in The Residents' video retrospective at MOMA on 10/19-10/23. The videos are all based on a 1.30 clip of "The River of Crime," which comes is available digitally now and physically on 11/4.

They posted the best 11 videos on a special YouTube channel, and the top 6 videos will be included in their MOMA exhibition next week.

The submissions are amazing, and from various countries - check out the channel for yourself:

Cuckoo Canoe

Just found this great band from Brooklyn, Cuckoo Canoe. Don't let the name fool you. They are neither Cuckoo nor do they possess a Canoe. They do however possess some sick musical chops on songs like Alaska Wolf Slay and You Sunk My Battleship.

It's worth 30 seconds of your time to check out. And limitless amounts of time to enjoy -- http://www.myspace.com/cuckoocanoe

Tarzan vs. Aquaman

A friend of mine recently pointed out that since Tarzan is the "King Of The Jungle" and Aquaman is "Lord Of The Sea," would they ever encounter each other? I think it's a good question, but the only fair place for a fight between these two would be, I believe, a desert. No animals, no water, no trees... just sand. How would these two survive? Would it look just like a normal fight between two regular guys (sounds boring but it could be interesting, as I witnessed the other day in a bar when the Yankees lost). Let's analyze:

1. Even though Tarzan is more familiar with land, he will have no trees to swing on and escape in case he is in trouble.

2. Even though Aquaman is a regular guy out of water, he is under water all the time, which means that the force that he uses is actually less than what his strength would be out of the water. Thus, making him super strong as a regular guy!

So, it's hard to choose who would win; but if I had to, I would bet my money on Tarzan.

Ruby Blog

I'm very excited to fly to Minneapolis tomorrow to see Throw The Fight perform at Maplewood. They are one of the best bands out there right now! They came to New York this summer to play a gig, driving all those hours only to find out that the gig was cancelled. Tomorrow will more than make up for it…can't wait!
